Gettysburg, PA, January 23, 2025 – Gettysburg College, a nationally recognized institution of the liberal arts and sciences, has joined Matriculate, a national nonprofit organization, as its newest Pathways Partner. Gettysburg joins a select group of higher education institutions, such as Bucknell University and University of Denver, that will be partnering with Matriculate to increase access for high school students from low-income and historically marginalized backgrounds through stronger outreach and education to eligible high school students, commitment to meeting the full financial need for at least two Matriculate High School Fellows, and expanded efforts to recruit virtual college Advising Fellows on campus.
The partnership goes into effect with the Class of 2026 high school graduates. Application fees will also be waived for all Matriculate High School Fellows who apply.
The newly launched Pathways Partnership Program is designed to expand options to high-achieving high school students who may thrive at institutions such as Gettysburg College but traditionally have not had the financial resources or support to do so. The Pathways Partnerships program is an extension of Matriculate’s long-standing and successful collaboration with national colleges and universities to close the college knowledge gap for students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and with a household income of less than $90,000.
J. Carey Thompson, Gettysburg College’s Vice President for Enrollment and Educational Services, and Acting Dean of Admissions, shared, “Gettysburg College has long welcomed outstanding students from all walks of life and that continues to be a primary goal of the college. Our partnership with Matriculate will help us pursue that mission and provide students with the opportunities and resources they need to lead consequential lives of learning, leadership and service.”
“We’re delighted to welcome Gettysburg College as a partner,” said Dr. Andrew Moe Hoffman, Matriculate’s Senior Director of College Partnerships. “It’s clear to us that the College is meaningfully investing in students from low-income and underrepresented backgrounds. Gettysburg has an excellent track record for graduating low-income students and is a high graduation rate institution overall. We’re confident that Matriculate’s high school students will benefit from greater access and affordability at our Pathways Partner colleges like Gettysburg, where they will receive a fantastic education and the support they need to succeed.”
