NEW YORK, October 30, 2025 – Education nonprofit and leadership development organization Teach For America (TFA) and Matriculate, a nonprofit dedicated to closing the college knowledge gap for high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds, are excited to announce a new partnership that will expand pathways for undergraduate leadership and service.
Through this collaboration, Teach For America and Matriculate will jointly recruit and support undergraduate students to serve as Advising Fellows with Matriculate. These trained undergraduates provide free, one-on-one virtual advising to high school students navigating the college admissions process. In turn, all Matriculate Fellows, leaders, and alumni will gain exposure to careers and opportunities with Teach For America, including TFA’s teaching corps program and its high-impact tutoring program, known as TFA Ignite.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to higher education while cultivating the next generation of leaders in education and public service. By aligning their outreach and resources, the two organizations aim to bring more undergraduates and recent graduates into meaningful service roles, while ensuring more high school students receive high-quality, personalized guidance at no cost to them or their families.
Bryan Contreras, Managing Director of Program Partnerships and Growth at Matriculate, shared, “We’re honored for the opportunity to partner with Teach for America and unify our efforts to recruit talented college students across the country to serve as near peer college advisors for high school students across the nation. Together we’ll help thousands of students enroll in a college that’s best for them, while at the same time enabling college students to develop critical skills they will need to be competitive candidates with those first job opportunities once they graduate. We look forward to many years of collaboration ahead!”
“We are inspired by Matriculate’s mission and thrilled to be partnering with another organization that bets boldly on the leadership of young people,” said Whitney Petersmeyer, Chief Growth and Program Officer at Teach For America.
Angel Gonzalez, an Education and Hispanic Studies major at Dartmouth College, expressed his support for the partnership. Angel is currently a Development Intern at Matriculate and an Advising Fellow alum. He also serves as Dartmouth’s Teach For America Campus Ambassador and is an early-admit 2026 Corps Member for TFA’s Greater Austin region.
“I’ve seen firsthand how information and access to opportunities can shape students’ educational journeys,” Angel shared. “Both Matriculate and Teach For America share a deep belief in the potential of every student and it’s inspiring to see them come together to ensure more students, regardless of where they come from, have access to an excellent education.”
